The last three months and a half months we have gone through most of the coastal nooks and crannies between Charleston and the Georgia border. I wanted to take a day to briefly look back before we move on.
This shot was taken in Charleston Harbor; Sullivan's Island is the backdrop.
We saw a full moon high tide at sunrise on Folly Beach.
Kiawah Island provided several great shots, including the first one on this page.
Seabrook Island was a great experience.
Beaufort provided us with fascinating history, and speaking of Beaufort, I want to give a quick thank-you to Brenda Hood. Many folks have helped me, and I am very grateful for each of you. But Brenda put me up for a week when I had the flu, and stopped by with food, medicine and encouragement when I really was feeling lousy- it was a real blessing.
If you ever visit Beaufort, Brenda has five rentals right beside the river. To view her cottages, Click Here, or to email her click Here. Here is a photo of one of her places.
Then St. Helena led us to all manner of history surrounding cotton plantations and race relations.
Port Royal served up some awesome swordfish.
Dataw and Brays Island showed us that development and use of resources can be done along with protecting the land and its heritage.
White Hall and the Broad River brought us oysters, crabs and an old style hunting camp and finally let us see some otter in the wild.
The old village of Bluffton showed her charms..
and we got to enjoy the natural beauty of the Colleton River Plantation.
We passed through Hilton Head heading out to explore Daufuskie Island's . . .
Where we saw Haig Point,
Melrose Place
and Bloody Point. This last photo by the way is the southern-most point in the state of South Carolina.
There were many places and stories that we passed by, but we got a good portion of them. But the road calls, and I've got Georgia on my mind....
Have an awesome Monday all !!
David
